L. E. Peabody & Associates, Inc. was founded in 1956 when Dr. Ford K. Edwards, a preeminent economic expert in transportation cost accounting, established the firm of Ford K. Edwards. In 1959, Dr. Edwards formed the partnership of Edwards & Peabody with Leroy E. Peabody, Jr. For six years, the partnership performed economic analyses and provided expert testimony on a wide range of railroad freight and passenger issues. With the retirement of Dr. Edwards in 1965, L. E. Peabody & Associates, Inc. was incorporated.

From its early emphasis on transportation economics and operations during the decade of the 1950's, L. E. Peabody & Associates, Inc. has evolved into a firm that is highly experienced in the many aspects of rail, motor, pipeline and water transportation, and the interaction of these various forms of transportation with the supply, availability and production costs of numerous industries. We also have developed a depth of knowledge on a myriad of non-transportation economic issues involving energy commodities, including electricity, coal and natural gas markets, purchasing and sale of energy commodities and valuation of energy assets.
